Do you skip a moisturizer because you have oily skin? Let me tell you why you shouldn’t, and also give you some moisturizer suggestions that are good for oily skin!
I have a confession to make, I haven’t used a moisturizer for years because I have oily skin and most moisturizers make my skin feel even more oily, clog my pores, and make me break out. I figured, moisturizers just aren’t for me, that is until I went to see my facialist and she explained to me why using a moisturizer is so important for any skin type.
Just because your skin is only, it doesn’t mean it has enough moisture. Moisturizers replenish skin, hydrate it and prevent premature aging. Another secret, foundation just goes on better if you apply it over your moisturizer. Trust me, I tested this theory many times myself, and the results are pretty fantastic. Another thing that I noticed is that my skin actually became less oily once I started using the right moisturizer. Truth is, sometimes our skin will overproduce oil when it lacks moisture (basically when it’s out of balance), so using a moisturizer can in fact help balance oil production.
Now, here are the oily skin approved moisturizers I am loving at the moment. Glow Recipe Watermelon line is fantastic! Lightweight, it gives you a very beautiful dewy-looking complexion but it does not clog pores at all. Usually, I wear this line during the day. I start with Watermelon Glow Ultra Fine Mist and follow with Watermelon Pink Juice Moisturizer. If I am looking for a particularly dewy look, I apply just a bit of Glow Recipe Watermelon Glow Niacinamide Dew Drops. This by the way is a perfect choice to wear under your foundation!
Mario Badescu is my newest discovery. I would say that this is probably the lightest choice of them all! In fact, Hyaluronic Dew Cream has a rather matte finish, and doesn’t feel oily or heavy at all. The Hyaluronic Dew Drops Hydrating Serum, is another favorite. I apply it right before the Dew Cream and it makes my skin feel super hydrated. Once again, it has a completely weightless finish which I absolutely love!

Not to mention that it doesn’t contain fragrance (and most experts agree that fragrance is really unnecessary in skincare). The 2 moisturizers below are my go-to night creams. Love that I wake up with refreshed, hydrated skin yet I never experience any issues with my oily skin.
Tatcha is one of my favorite skincare lines ever and The Water Cream Oil Free Pore Minimizing Moisturizer as well as The Indigo Cream are absolutely amazing for oily skin. The Water Cream is an excellent day-time cream, it repairs and hydrates yet feel completely weightless on. The Indigo cream works really well when my skin feels irritated. I am prone to redness from time to time and this cream helps my skin come down.
